Leadership
Leadership is reserved to Velilyevatem. When an egg cracks and the baby has wings, the baby is taken from its parents to be raised by other Velilyevatem. Although some places have been seen without any Velilyevat, and led by a regular Yevat, it's rare and quite badly seen. Failing to your duty as a Velilyevat turns you into a valis (betrayer.)
Vadij(em) (Leader(s)) (Velilyevat) - They take decisions for the people and lead. There's one leader per town or caravan in general, but it's not rare to see big cities having two or three leaders (sometimes even more.) Member(s) of the council (Velilyevat) - Their job is primordial: they prevent leader(s) to become tyrans. They also question every decision taken by the leader(s), and suggest alternate decisions. Monk (Young Velilyevat) - Winged children or teenagers who are in the process of learning their future duties. A monk will become a member of the council of its town/city/tribe when reaching adulthood and when the other will judge that they are ready. If a young Velilyevat is the only Velilyevat of their community, they'll be the leader even if they're very young, and may have a council composed of wingless Yevatem. |
Food related
Food is important in Yevatem societies. A community free from need is a happy community.
Vanator (Hunter) - They hunt big preys and bring meat to the community. They use weapons and huge traps. They'll attract the prey inside the traps. They most often work in a team. Hunter-gatherer - They hunt smaller preys, and take care of planting fruit trees and plants on their way to gather the fruits later an to attract mor animals. Less dangerous than hunter. They most often work alone. Fisher (Undergrounds) - They use nets and baits to catch fishes to feed the community. Breeder - They're rarer, but some love to breed animals for their food, wool, leather, etc. If they prefer to breed mounts or pets, they'll be mount breeders (see below.) Cook - They will cook for the people, and are good at it. They work in plain air and burn things from time to time. The people love them and may help the cooks sometimes. |
Plants and roots expert / herborist - They know which plant and root tastes what, and have a greater knownledge than most of other Yevatem about it. They'll also take care of the plants and trees surrounding the town or city. Some of them even know the healing properties of some plants and use it to heal people, but they're much rarer (read about the medicine here.) Other are even more shady and know that once ingested or smoked, some plants can have psychedelic effects. But regular ones usually focus on what's edible and tastes good.
Jaja maker (alcohol) - It requires a great organization to create a good wine or beer. Jaja makers gather ingredients such as fruits, leaves, roots, and especially the Jaja juice (the sap of the Jaja tree) which naturally has a high concentration in alcohol and sugar already to speed up the process of creation. Then they create the tastiest drinks by mixing all in barrels. Some would say that Jaja makers aren't that useful to the community, but eh, who doesn't need a refreshment in summer?
Mushroom expert (Rare) - Work with the cook, they know which mushroom can be eaten and which can't. They know how to mix them and to make food taste really good.
Spice expert (Really rare) - They know how spices taste despite the fact that spices are really rare (due to the fact that they're hard to collect.) They know how to mix them and to enhance a meal. They're more frequent in cities, or as travelling merchant.

Art related
Art is an important part of the Yevat culture. Artists are considered being as important as other workers, and a community without art is said to be a community without soul. Artists are called "makayevat" (plural: makayevatem) from Maka (artist) + Yevat (someone, people.) The whole reputation of a community is based on the practiced arts. It's sometimes less true for tribes which are more focused on survivalism, but it's not rare to see houses, trees, and even animals painted, and trees and stones carved in pretty shapes. Even caravans of merchants will paint and decorate their caravans. It's not rare either to see Yevatem painted, tattooed, and covered with jewelery. The look is important!
Paint maker - They know how to create pigments of color from their environment. They make paints for the bodypainting and for painting in general. Kraskamaka (Bodypainter) - They paint other Yevatem's body for parties and events. If anyone can apply painting on their body, kraskamakem are much more talented. They paint more than simple glyphs, and they can completely transform a Yevat for a special occasion. They also know how to apply makeup. They mostly use their hands and fingers, but some also have tools. Painter / Carver (in stone or wood) - They make temporary or definitive art forms so their city/town/tribe is the prettiest in the region. Jeweler - They create random and custom jewelry for the people, and may also pierce a Yevat's skin. They're in conflict with Archaeologists since they use a lot of Oyevat's ruins as main source of metal and nice trinkets. Vanyedemaka (Tattoo artist) - They use needles (often crafted by Jewelers) and Paint maker's ink to tattoo Yevatem. Their art is known to be practised for cycles before being good, so they practice on mounts, pets and leather before touching any Yevat. |
Material related
House builder - Depending on the region, they may carve in tree bark or in stone. They have heavy tools and are athletic and strong. They have an important knowledge in architecture (so the roofs don't fall over Yevatem's head) and must learn theory for cycles. They most often work in a team, and there's often one or several apprentices with them.
Furniture maker - They craft anything that can go inside a home (furniture, objects.) They often take custom works. They can be specialised into large furniture or objects, or both, or into a single kind of object. Clothes maker - They use specific silk plants and wool to sew. They also use leather for though clothes. They make random or custom clothes and accessories, and they're the ones who lead the fashion! The most talented ones will work for Velilyevatem. Archaeologist - They study Oyevat's ruins. Their biggest dream is to, one day, be able to turn a spaceship on and to make it fly. They're fascinated by anything related to Oyevatem and will try to protect the places and objects with their life. They're in conflict with Jewelers and some builders who have no notion of how precious the metal is. Smith and glass workers (uncommon) - Every big town or city (and some towns) have a smith and a glass worker. The forges are usually located underground, just underneath a water source to heat it for baths. They work with metals or sand and can create useful things (weapons, tools, home parts) or simply decorative ones. They often both work on the same station, and thus, can create things together. |
Gatherers - They explore further than everyone else to gather resources and bring them to the community. They can bring back metals, crafting materials, decorative stones, wood, etc. They can work alone, and in that case will bring back smaller things, or in organized groups. These groups will cut down trees, dig into quarries, etc.
Mount or pet breeder (Rare) - They provide the people with an animal's company. They're most often seen in cities, where they'll have enough resources to breed animals. They need cages, leashes, a lot of food, and if the pets/mounts requires too much food, the people might ask the breeder to stop their activity.

Community and communication
Yevatem need to rely on each other in this tough world. Protection and communication is how cities, towns and tribes all thrive, and live in the same world, not secluded from everything.
Delerteim (Guard / Protector) - They have weapons, a good Rokyevat form, and an excellent eyesight or hearing; they watch over the city/town/tribe so nothing external may be tempted to attack. They protect the people. Bird caller / Siune caller (rare) - It's a complex job where the Yevat teaches an animal (often birds or Siunem, but it can be any other kind of animal) where to go, and how to come back. They use these animals to transmit messages (and sometimes objects) between towns or cities. They often have specific bags made in fish skin so it's waterproof, just in case the animals take undergrounds paths. The fastest and the most loyal animals are the more frequently chosen for this task. Town/city cleaners - If Yevatem are generally taught how to be clean and respectful of their environment, the environment is always degraded in a way or another, may it be because of time, weather, passages, or simpe use. Cleaners remove the leaves on the paths, own a school of Valel fishes to clean the public baths, or wash the dishes of the community's cooks. Unlike for humans, it's a respected job, and cleaners are often thanked by others. Yevatem know how important cleaners are, especially when the look of your city or town is an important value in the knowledge and art rivalries. |
Cartographers (rare) - In rather new towns, mappers are required to map the surroundings. Mappers have artistic talents and work directly for the leader, engraving large parchemints with precise information about the region in which they are. It's a dangerous job as they're always in the wild and often alone, and they become obsolete when the region is mapped, so they're often moving from a place to another once their job is done, or become more regular artists.
Travelling merchants - Caravans are useful to travel safely in regions you don't know, and to avoid being lost. Travelers know many safe paths, but are also extremely useful for other tasks: they transmit the news from the world everywhere they go, and trade many exotic objects or food on their path. They directly participate in the world's advancements and exchange of cultures.
Boat or sea caravans travellers - They're just like travelling merchants, but on the underground seas, oceans and rivers. They may have a boat for the richest, or more frequently one or several Jebarem, and serve the same purposes as the surface caravans.
Knowledge bearers / scribes (often Velilyevatem, or members of a Velilyevat's family) (cities only) - Huge cities gather knowledge through big libraries filled with tinted parchmint. Velilyevatem who are not leaders nor members of the council are then knowledge bearers and scribes. It's often reserved to a high cast of people, nobles or Velilyevatem, and accessing this knowledge often costs a high price. If most of the general knowledge is gifted for free to the community, these libraries often gather the prohibited knowledge; such as a rival's beliefs, what really did the first Yevatem, who has been made valis and why, etc.

Social and spirituality related
Spirituality is present everywhere on a Yevat's life. Learn more in the Pantheon page. Spirituality and social workers are important for the balance of the community, and to keep everyone in line. They're more present in cities and towns, but some can be found in tribes as well.
Noheyoa (Love / Care / Frienship bringer) - They're here and available when Yevatem feel alone, may it be to confess their deepest secrets or fears, or to simply ask for a hug, and much more. They have the sweetest homes and could be compared to an intimate psychologist / therapist. They're loved by the people and often receive gifts. Mitsiayevat (Singer) - Their voice is like the voice of a bird, or the vibrations in the deepest caves; they sing during any events or parties. Their voice is said to heal the soul. They can sing alone or be a part of a choir. Musician - They use crafted musical instruments (tribal to early medival) to play music with singers. They most often craft their instruments themselves, because the crafters don't always have the musical ear. Teacher - If it's considered that the whole community is responsible for children (read the notes about children here), teachers have a specific job: making sure everything is done well. Teachers will follow closely the growth of children, but also of newcomers, and will give them the knowledge they lack, like counting, reading and writing, how to be sociable etc. They often wear the title "Melyster" (wise) and have to report to the leader(s) if a child or a newcomer shows signs of problem; or if they're misbehaving or isolated, for example. When a child is orphan, teachers will also be the representatives of them, and may be called "parent." |
Hearth keeper (Old Yevatem) - These old souls are used as source of knowledge, and their advices are often requested. The people take care of them. During important events, they're the ones asked to start the fire in the central place of a town or city.
Ovskrud breathers (Often a side job) - Ovskrudem are the cemetary-lakes for Yevatem. Ovskrud breathers are in charge of two things: preparing the deads for the death ritual (which will be held most often by the leader/Velilyevat) by making sure that they're clean and good-looking, and covered with their favorite clothes and jewelery; but also to make sure that the black fungus created by these sacred lakes doesn't spread further than the lake itself by cleaning the lychen and fungi developing around. Since breathing around these lakes for too long can be enough to contaminate someone, Ovskrud breathers are often swapped between members of the community, so nobody stays too long in this job. Many Yevatem can say that they have been Ovskrud breathers in their life at some point.
Doctor (Rare) - They gathered all the possible knowledge they could (most often in cities, so they need to be important persons) about Yevatem, wounds, and diseases. They're however not often welcomed, read why here.
