Oyevat anatomy
Oyevatem are monstrous and tall creatures that haunt Bothea since a few cycles only. It's unclear where they come from, but they appeared all of a sudden after cycles and cycles of silence. They were supposed to be an extinct species, but they recently resurfaced after a silma, the first event of a series of catastrophic events.
Tall and elongated, their silhouette is creepy: they have large shoulders and thin hips, a thick neck and a pair of ornamental wings. Their arms are long enough for them to run on all four and be fast, even if they'll most often be seen standing on their legs only. They resemble Yevatem and Velilyevatem (especially in their Rokyevat form), and are supposed to be their ancestors. The truth is probably more complex than that, but we can find similarities: the mouth, the feline nose, the dot eyebrows, the hands and paws, etc. They're definitely linked to the main inhabitants of Bothea, but they appear to be more predator-like, bearing many natural weapons, and showing no empathy for their cousins. |
Details:
- They can turn their head like an owl, and are more flexible than what they look like. They're basically monsters of strength with flexibility, enough to get where they want - They often have the ears directed towards four different directions, so they can hear all around them - Their eyes are made for darker places and they are sensitive to full daylight, which they will avoid - Hands and feet always have two thumbs, just like Yevatem - They're covered with thick (and often rough) fur - Their breathe is generally loud (like a constant purr), unless they focus on it to make it silent (while hunting, for example) - In spite of being tall predators, they can be very discreet and silent, and hide in the shadows for hours to surprise a prey |
Head details
An Oyevat's head is feline and thick, and stuck to a thick neck. They can have any horns or set of teeth. They always have four ears, providing them with a wonderful hearing. But their more developped sense comes from their svasiem (singular: svasi), the circles present on their cheeks: it allows them to sense the temperature all around them, and temperature variations on miles. It means that they will feel a creature's body temperature (given that it's hotter or colder than the environment), before they will see, hear, or smell it. It's a blessing to hunt and to never be surprised by their surroundings, but it has a downside: the svasiem are quite sensitive, and easy to hurt. |
Body details Oyevatem have a large and buffy torso. There's no sexual dimorphism, and no way to visually define one's sex and gender at first glance. They can have hair and/or a thicker fur, it's pretty common. Their wings contain hormone glans, which they can spread by flapping or spreading the wings. The hormones often induce fear among other creatures, and even between themselves (useful to instaure a hierarchy.) Their tail is often thin, and unused. It could be removed from their body without consequence, but they like having it nonetheless. Their hands have five fingers, including two thumbs. Their feet often have four fingers, but can have more (just like Yevatem, up to six fingers, thumbs included.) |
