Nivikt
Nivikt, from the Nivikt-Dakti. Plural: Nivikt.
On Bothea, the plural of the species name is said "Niviktem." The singular is always "Nivikt." It's pronounced [nivikt] (IPA) when said by Nivikt themselves, and [niʋikt] (IPA) when pronounced by Yevatem (the Yevat "v" is a mix between a "v" and a "b", while lips don't touch to pronounce the sound.)
The Nivikt are a species of small humanoid creatures with saurian and monkey features, resembling goblins. They're sneakish and they come from a strange ship-realm that seems to teleport. They're really friendly, but they also love to steal stuff!
/!\ This reference sheet will heavily includes spoilers of the chapter 3 of the main story. It's recommended to be up to date before continuying!

RULES
Nivikt are an open species! They're 100% free to make! You can make OCs and adoptables to your will.
There is no Nivikt masterlist. Nivikt don't generate any Yevatoken when drawn; they're not considered as being fully part of the YVVO species.
YVVO-Nivikt hybrids (not free, reserved for official adoptables and customs), however DO generate Yevatokens, and are added to the masterlist.
Niviktem can be present on Bothea.

Anatomy
Nikivt are genenetically separated into two groups: (both are free to make)
- Pure-breed (born from two Nivikt parents, who are themselves pure-breed) - Hybrids (has one or several non-Nivikt in the close genealogy, like parents or grandparents) Indeed, Nivikt are creatures with a high fertility rate, and can have offsprings with very different species, even ones that would look very different genetically speaking. Nivikt are short creatures. Their adult size is about 1,35m / 4ft 5in (but it can vary with hybridization.) Their most distinctive traits are their eight nostrils, long ears folding backwards, segmented phalanges, and dinosaur-like paws. Other than that, they have a humanoid silhouette, and a flat face. There is a sexual dimorphism, which is similar to humans. Females will have a breast and a vagina, males will be flat-chested and will have a penis. Although, on the contrary to humans, it's not rare at all to find Nivikt that are both male and female, or anyhting in between, or who would have no genitalia at all. Because of this, their language have no gender, and they don't care about other species' gender either. They're mammalians and will have babies one by one, just like humans - or sometimes will have twins, triplets, etc. (more frequently than humans.) |
Their tail can be completely furless, to fully covered with fur. Their back can be slightly covered with fur as well; but fur on the rest of the body will be a mark of hybridization.
They can freely have beards and mustaches They have little to no taboos and don't care about nudity. Clothes are for them more a way to appear cool rather than to hide anything. They can naturally be (and often are) covered with scales or plates, and it's not rare to see their skin being mottled with freckles or spots, sometimes looking like they have vitiligo.
|
A Nivikt's head is full of peculiarities:
- They can have any hair, and any horns - although their horns will tend to remain smaller than their head for pure-breed Nivikt
- Their eyes are naturally a large slit, sometimes an oval.
- They have 8 nostrils (four pairs), making the sense of smell their primary sense.
- Their face is usually round like a goblin, yet their profile is rather flat
- They have pointy and often crooked teeth, and a split tongue.

Nivikt hands have only four fingers, and their fingers have only two phalanges. Their phalanges are hard and chitinous-like, reducing their sense of touch. Despite this handicap, they're very skillful with their hands nonetheless. Elbow tips are optional. It's more frequent to see females with elbow tips, but it's not a strict rules and males with them aren't rare either. |
Nivikt have anthropomorphic-like paws, with 4 toes; 3 toes in contact with the ground, and a thumb. The feet are always covered with scales, even slightly. Each toe ends with a small and hard hoof-like nail. The toes are rather flexible and can move independently, making Nivikt pretty good at walking and running on most surfaces, even accidented ones. |
Hybridization guide
Nivikt are a constantly travelling species, and they often meet numerous of other species. Somehow, it seems like their genes are compatible with a lot of other species, and for this reason, it's not rare to see Nivikt hybridized with another species.
It's allowed (for free) to:
- Change any trait from this reference sheet and any visual aspect of the Nikivt to create an Hybrid (for example: giving them wings, adding big horns, having a blue skin, etc.
- Create hybrids with an unknown species to create new fantasy traits without justification (for example: adding them a crystal growth on body just because it's cool)
- Change only a detail (for example, the pupil), or a lot of details (for example: make them taller, adding fur, change their pupils and teeth, etc.)
- Take only one detail of the species (for example the ears) and to add them to a very different character (for example, a feral character like a cat) BUT you must still credit the species somewhere and write that it's oficially a "Nivikt hybrid."
- Have a character that can shapeshift into a Nivikt
- Give your Nivikt extra powers such as shapeshifting and extra forms of versions of itself (any extra power not listed in their abilities will make turn as hybrids as well.)
It's prohibited to:
- Create a new species of Nivikt hybrids (for example: creating the species of "Nivikt + dog anthro hybrids" and to create a new group just for them, etc.)
- Take Nivikt bodyparts for an OC but not consider them as an "Hybrid Nivikt" or not crediting the species / or to attribute yourself as the creator of Nivikt traits
- Hybritize a Nivikt with a species you have no rights to (for example, the YVVO are a closed species and you can't hybritize them with a Nivikt without a specific authorization.) In general, be extremely careful with closed species and make sure that an hybridization is allowed before making it; contact the other CS/OS/ARPG maker beforehand if you have to. Yoka can't be held responsible of you created "illegal" hybrids, and she will not manage copyright issues regarding other CS or OS. It's your rsponsibility to make sure that you can hybritize before you do it.

Abilities
Excellent sense of smell
A Nivikt world is a world of scents. Nivikt will identify and recognize others mostly by their smell (including members of other species.) They can also know if someone is afraid or happy (for example) by the hormones they release in the air. They can be tricked and bothered by perfumes and synthetic scents. Teleportation All Nivikt can teleport. They're limited and can only teleport a few meters/feet away (not between worlds - they need to be in their realm for that) but it's still a useful ability to have when you're a small and vulnerable creature. They'll generally hide this ability to strangers, to keep it as an asset in case of tensions. You can have a Nivikt as neighbor for three weeks and never see them teleporting a single time. A Nivikt that would reveal this ability to strangers will be badly seen by the other Nivikt. Language learning Nivikt have the ability to learn new languages pretty fast (useful when you always keep moving between worlds.) However they tend to keep a strong accent: They have trouble to separate the "T" and the "K", so they'll tend to pronounce these two letter "KT" together. Here's an example in English: "Hello! I am a Nivikt, a species ctoming from a realm that kteep moving. Are you a friend or are you seekting ktrouble? We have things kto ktrade if you're willing kto pay the price. Ctome and see!" |
When pronouncing and speaking, they also tend to insist on vowels a lot compared to consonants.
No pain
Nivikt are poorly, if not completely unaffected by physical pain. They feel it as a distant information, telling them that something is wrong with their body, but it won't hurt them like it does for humans, for example. Because of this, they often appear stronger and tougher than what they actually are.

Lore
The Nivikt Dakti
The 'Dakti' means "realm" in the Nivikt language, so 'Nivikt Dakti" simply means "the Nivikt's realm." The Dakti (realm) is very hard to describe. It's a slice of world, a round platter of reality surrounded by void, an organic and gigantic mother-ship hosting an always changing world. Try to imagine it as a piece of landscape that's always slowly changing shape, and which is in fact some kind of spaceship. It's a floating moutain covered with snow that can space-travel, and the day after, it's a plain covered with pink leaves trees. The Dakti is, in a way, a living organism a few kilometers/miles far and wide, which tries to mimic a landscape as best as it can... And the Nivikt live on it. It generates its own atmosphere, and seems to be sentient. It adopted the Nivikt as main species a long time ago, but it also hosts a lot of travelers. The Dakti seems to be able to "teleport" anywhere - or perhaps it's rather playing with the layers of dimensions to disappear and to reappear somewhere else. It's able to survive in the void of space, and to move inside - while still maintaining a haven on its heart to host the Nivikt. It can move very rapidly, and it does seem to move completely randomly; although it always targets inhabited planets in priority. It however never stays long before it disappears to explore new worlds. |
The Dakti strangely seems to appear on battlegrounds some time after the battles, or where people are lost, are at their lowest, or need help. Staying in this realm when it teleports will teleport as well everything that entered, including you - but if you don't want to stay, the Nivikt will probably tell you it's going to teleport before so you can have time to leave if you want to stay in your world. Probably. ...Maybe.
There's no way to guess where the realm will teleport afterwards. Not even the Nivikts themselves know, and they have no control on the realm, they only live on it.
The realm's landscape is always evolving, constantly merging from all the various countries it ever saw. I doesn't change fast enough for the eye to see, but you can fall asleep on a hill, and wake up inside a forest, and you'd still be inside the Nivikt Dakti.
The realm will always try to appear on a rather flat surface, where little life is evolving (it'll avoid cities, for example.) Present life will be instantly merged with the realm when it teleports somewhere: trees and flora will merge with the realm, and animals and people will be integrated as well; it creates on living beings a sudden change that's experienced in a unique way to everyone: sometime people will see a flash as the landscape changes, sometimes they'll throw up, sometimes they'll lose consciousness, sometimes they'll feel a vibration, etc. It only affects life that was present where the realm suddenly appears, it doesn't affect the Nivikt themselves. When the realm leaves the place, it leaves a spheric hole/crater where it was, taking with it the dirt, sea, or whatever it landed in and sometimes altering the landscape forever after its passage.

Nivikt are conscious that their world is alive and sentient, and have named their world "Elandris." (Sometimes seen written "Elandrisse," or even "Elan Drisse.") They can sometimes manage to communicate with their world during spiritism sessions, or see the "spirit" of their world in dreams, through a silhouette that can never be directly looked at: the eyes always are forced to look somewhere else, and can only perceive a vague, shapeless silhouette. Travelers can eventually meet Elandris through dreams or visions too. When a language uses gendered pronouns, Elandris is heard using she/her.
If Nivikt will often remain in the Dakti, it's possible for one to fall in love for a world they visit and to choose to stay there instead. You can roleplay your Nivikt in any world that the Dakti has ever visited. Thanks to the Dakti, it's possible to find Nivikt anywhere in the world, and in any possible universe.

Nivikt in general
Nivikt are known to be the "universe's garbage." Indeed, they tend to gather everything that's destroyed or lost, and to change them. Basically, they recycle! They also tend to steal many things and to say "It's mine, I found it!" - they could be compared to little sneaky monkeys or raccoons in their behavior. When picking up things from the random worlds they appear into, they probably won't give the same value to things than local inhabitants. For example, they'd probably ignore a briefcase filled with money on Earth, but will gather a spoon like the greatest treasure because they can see their deformed reflection inside, and this spoon could become a true magical artifact for them. They are also extremely good tamers. Everything that's not Nivikt is considered as an object, a "thing" (including you if you're not a Nivikt.) "Things that are alive" are all good to be adopted as pets or mounts, and a Nivikt would probably consider a Human as a new pet. More: Nivikt are pretty talented to turn any kind of living beings as docile pets or mounts, even super aggressive ones, and it's not rare to witness a Nivikt riding a monster from the deep void while having a werewolf on a leash. Everytime you visit their realm, you can be surprised by a new freaky beast that they adopted. They seem to be able to breed with almost any other species, and it's not rare to see Nivikt hybrids anywhere. Half dragon, half anthro cat, half goblin, half creature of the void... There are countless of possibilities! |
They can eat anything organic in general, living off an omnivorous diet - and sometimes eating other's trash.
Out of their realm, their lifespan is about 70 years old. But when they're inside their realm, reality seems to be altered for them, like if time acted differently. They can age much slowler, or much faster, and they sometimes even can get younger. In their realm, they can die of age pretty randomly.

Nivikt on Bothea
To Oyevatem, the Dakti's nature is clear: it's one of the rare entity born in the void of space. The entities of the same nature of the Dakti are always gigantic, and can sometimes be aggressive, or peaceful. They're organic and rare enough not to cross the path of one frequently, but they have already met several other "living-realms" or "world-eaters" entities of this nature in the past. It's however rare to see one accepting life on its back, and even rarer to see one actively keeping this life alive and thriving. The Dakti would be a wonder to study for any renamed scientist; but Oyevatem seldom tolerate the presence of invaders on their owned lands.
Since they visited Bothea, Nivikt can be found pretty much anywhere on the planet's surface and undergrounds. They adapted quickly, and most Yevatem/Velilyevatem now accept their presence. We could even say that some love the Nivikt a little more intimately, as Yevat-Nivikt hybrids have been born since. (YVVO-Nivikt hybrids are NOT free to make as it's considered as a mutation, and can only be found in official adoptables or custom.)

Specific rules
Nivikt specificities:
- Always credit Yoka, Yokamycelium, the Nivikt species, and/or the YVVO species when creating and reposting Nivikt content - even for hybrids. At least one functional link is asked as credit, redirecting either to one of Yoka's or YVVO's places. (It can be this page.)
- On the contrary to YVVO, you can apply your own TOS (term of service) regarding adoptables and designs you'll create (as long as they don't conflict with these ones.) It means that you can apply to your Nivikt designs rules such as "don't resell for more than bought," for example. You are responsible to have clear TOS for your adoptables. If you change your TOS about adoptables, people should be aware of the change as well. Yoka will NOT handle user's TOS problems regadring Nivikt designs. You'll be responsible to manage your own dramas if you disagree with someone who bought one of your design.
- You're allowed to create "the Nivikt version" of a character you own (if the original designer or species TOS allows it if it's another species) or a "shapeshifter" with a Nivikt form.
The rules above are the only ones being different from the general YVVO rules. For the rest of the rules, please refer to the YVVO rules.
