Other fauna and flora
Find here plants and critters that can't really be considered as "pets." Unless stated otherwise for some exceptions, they're all free to make and/or to include in your artworks. Reading this page is completely optional for your understanding of the universe and is simply here as bonus content. They're sorted in no specific order.
Some "artworks" here have been made using AI and modified afterwards with CSP. These ones are free to use for any YVVO project.

Plants
Trees above, from left to right:
A. These trees are Yevat-sized, and grow almost everywhere. Their cute and unique shape make them common in villages as well.
B. This tree is know to grow in any shape and size, and often twirls. Loved by children who enjoy climbing it, and loved by adults who often find shelter underneath.
C. Half-tree, half-fungus, this one grows like a mushroom then hardens with age.
D. Named the "Yakenagas" (meaning: "tree of luck") this bright yellow tree is rare, hard to grow, and only lives a dozen of cycles. It's said it only grows where the earth is good and generous, and brings luck to whoever sees it.

Succulents at left, from left to right:
A. "Dapat." These huge and strange plants consume oxygen. They inflate during their whole life, until their own structure isn't big enough, then they explode like a balloon, spreading spores everywhere at the same time. Very light, and thus easy to transport, they can be used to ease a fall. B. This succulent can be used to drink by sucking on the water in its leaves since it's edible for Yevatem, but it's very bitter. C. Common succulent growing solely on rocks, in the forests just like in the deserts. |
Ma'ol . Ma'olem
(Click on pictures for full size. Concept and artworks @Bruncikara.) Considered as very small pet (5 Y when drawn) to pet depending on the size. Exceptionally, Ma'ol is not an open species. They're available only for YVVO having the unique trait "plant growth," to avoid any YVVO suddenly having a "free plant growth", which would be unfair to all the users who bought a unique trait to have plants on their YVVO. The wounds they leave are, however, free to make. Either named "Ka'almao" or "Ma'ol" (rough translation for "bloody plant",), the Ka'almaem are not pets. They're half animal, half plant, and are a parasitis that sticks on living creatures to feed on their blood. They can't be tamed, nor will react to their name, etc. Extra information: - Below, it has a small circular mouth similar to lampreys - In most cases theyre 'safe' to use, because of their small size, they detach on their own after they've finished eating - What's left after is a small bite wound that will keep bleeding until its cleaned/covered (because of their saliva) and a bunch of suction marks that might look very dramatic at first, but they disappear soon after and are no cause of concern - Although some Yevatem go out of their way to get permanent scars - Possible colours are whatever and feel free to slightly change the flower too. |
Plants above, from left to right:
A. A spongious plant which only grows near, or in water, and which has its seeds visible when maturing. The silver-like seeds are often gathered by Yevatem to craft jewelery, but otherwise this plant isn't much used.
B. This plant is known to be incredibly heavy. It's even a wonder how its own stem sustains it. If there are stories of drunk Yevatem using it as a mace, this plant is mostly known to be filled with a coconut-like juicy fruit - available to whoever will manage to break it first, which isn't given.
C. Named "the dancer's dress," this plant often hides Nyokuem, insect nests, or other dangerous creatures.
D. Growing only in the undergrounds, this plant would die if presented to the sun. It grows on shores and nearby or inside the seawater.
Plants underneath, from left to right:
A. "Sopnaa." This plant starts its life as a small, pink flower, then grows in large, fresh leaves that are edible for Yevatem. It's common to see it in salads.
B. "Kopoagni," meaning "white head." This plant stricly grows underground, but always near the surface. It'll grow into large white "hats" which captures the ambient dim light.
C. The "Naksalat," meaning "the idiot's ears." In old stories, this plant grew on the remains of someome who got in trouble by listening to other's talks and by meddling in their stories. Offering this plant to someone basically means "leave me alone," or "I know you spy on me."
D. "Jajaagas." Ever heard of the Jaja juice, this popular alcohol on Bothea? It comes from the liquid sap of this palm-like plant which can grow as big as trees. Some love it raw, others will dilute it with water, sirups, sugar, and other alcohols, and even boil it.

< Non-harmful flowers.
Bothea hosts flowers of every shape, size, and colors. Many can be found in Yevatem's hair, on their clothes, or in their home. They're generally called "Nyo, nyoem" and aren't classified, unless in big cities where it's a luxury that wise Yevatem can afford. The first one (image on the left, to on phone), is called "Yenelkasip", meaning "the mother's tongue." It's often offered to mothers who just laid an egg. The third one is "Isneih", or "little yellow", kids play with it as it reflects a golden light on every surface. |
Dangerous flowers, pictures above, from left to right:
A. "Tharonyo", "the flower of authority." The reason why it bears this name has been lost with time. This flower has a thousand of tiny, poisonous spikes. It can easily pierce the skin when a Yevat runs through it, and it'll give fever.
B. As pretty and banal this flower might look, it's a parasitis. It only grows on other plants, and will live until it has fully consumed the other plant. It's unharmful for Yevatem, however.
C. "Thornyo," the dangerous flower - everything with it is poisonous when ingested, the leaves just like the flowers. In history, it has been widely used to poison others.
D. "Opyi," in large doses this plant's root is deadly. In small doses, It's relaxing, but also provokes hallucinations. It's sometimes used in medicine, but medicine is rare.
E. "Matiarakasipem," or "the three tongues of Death." Always has three leaves, and three flowers. The leaves are in the shape of a Yevat's tongue, and touching it is simply toxic: the victim will feel itches, then will see pimples on the skin, and will then feel a burn like if their skin was on fire. It can last a few days. Ingested, it may eventually kill the weakest, but only after days of agony. The flower is also a bad omen; if it grows nearby someone's house, it means death... at least it's believed.

Fungus and mushrooms
Mushrooms are an important part of Bothea's life. It is possible to find them everywhere and, just like on Earth, mastering a fungi knowledge is a rare and sought talent. Oyevatem even used mycelium to create strong cables connecting their machines, creating at the same time the first kind of "biomechanics" they mastered aferwards. Despite what's written about their general size, there are places on Bothea where every single of these fungus will be able to grow larger and bigger, for some reasons. A high amount of mycelium in the earth might be an explanation.
1. Maogora' (the bleeding fungi.) Is about the size of one or two Yevat hand. Can be found in the jungles and undergrounds, but is kinda rare. Will grow alone in the dirt. Is slightly toxic for Yevatem upon ingestion, but it'll eventually be used as dye for refined clothes. Some bugs will feed on the juice it naturally produces.
2. Yajithei / Yajitheigora'. (the blue light fungi.) Its size can vary a lot, from the discreet fungi smaller than grass to the fungi competing with the height of a tree. It's extremely light and seems not to weight anything, making it also really fragile. It's almost solely found in the undergrounds, and while it's pretty common, it will not grow in windy areas (since a blow could remove their hat.) It can grow on dirt, stone holes, and even water. Its spores are bioluminescent and really light as well, and the fungi is known to be almost invasive, for how much it can easily grow and reproduce. It's harmless when ingested by Yevatem, although Yevatem mostly use them as natural light in the undergrounds.
3. Gor'isunaem (little branches fungi.) Can have any size and seems to never cease to grow, even if it grows slowly. It's rigid as a stick, and will leak a lighter sap when broken. It comes in many, many different colors, and can even have gradients on it. It can grow anywhere and will form bushes. Yevatem have found no purpose to it, but a decoration one.
4. Rumvohongora' (the brown dusty mushroom.) About the size of a Yevat hand, these mushrooms grow in small packs in any dry environment. They can be found in sand, dead tree bark, rocks, etc. They're friable and can be easily turned into a power that smells really nice (like cinnamon) and that can be smoked in smoking pipes.
5. Yajkopra' (blue and white mushroom.) Can be large as a Yevat's hand to large enough to be used as a chair. It grows alone and prefers humid environments with poor light sources. It's very nutricious for Yevatem and it's recommanded to eat it when it can be gathered (its toughness requires tools/knife to gather it), but deyevatem tend not to like its taste since it's quite bitter.
6. Lungora' (water fungi.) About the size of a finger, this small fungi only grows in very humid areas, either nearby water sources or humid rifts. It can gather a large drop of water in a night only and keep it in a very thin 'skin'. Yevatem can pick the fungi and pop the water bubble to get hydrated if necessary. If the bubble is black, or very dark-colored, it means the nearest water source is an Ovskrud.
7. Nyogora' (flower fungi.) This fungi can grow to the size of a Yevat hip, but it's generally smaller. It produces something akin to white flowers and, rarely, a fruit that's very tasty and sought by Yevatem for its incredible taste, when it's not offered to a local Velilyevat. Though the rest of the fungi is not edible, this fruit is sweet. It grows alone in perfectly random places, and its spores are bioluminescent and will make a Yevat to cough.

Left picture: the Matiagora' / Mushroom of the dead.
You can't see it? Then consider yourself dead. Possibly the most dangerous threat for a Yevat on Bothea, the Matiagora' grows mostly in Ovskrudem (sacred cemetery lakes) and other kind of cemeteries. It grows on death and requires little to spread. It infiltrates anything organic and will consume it. On Yevatem, it gives a terrific disease that eventually kills (80% chances of killing on average) and which looks terrible: the Yevat will have both swollen buboes and carved holes in the flesh appearing everywhere on the body, and may live up to a few months in pain before dying. It's however easy to spot it: observe the environment and you'll quickly notice it! If everything around is covered with a black lichen, if every plant seem dead, and if there's a rancid smell in the air, there's the Matiagora' around. |
Bugs
Very small pet (5 Y when drawn) Pet only (unless UT to make it bigger.)
The "Ribbon bug", named "Patampu" by Yevatem, is a kind of hybrid between a dragonfly and a butterfly. It has long "ribbons' at the end of its wings and is so light that it seems to "float" when flying. (See this, but slower, like if underwater.) The "Yin," or "dancing hypnotic bug," is a big and iridescent bug. It can fly so fast that the beating of its wings is not perceptible for a Human or Yevat eye (like helicopter's blades.) Thus, the colors seem to change and move while the wings seem to stay almost motionless. It uses it to confuse possible predators, but it'll also react to songs and beats, moving according to it like if it was dancing. |
Koprol . Koprolem
(Artworks and designs @42Ly) Very small pet (5 Y when drawn) Pet only (unless UT to make it bigger.) Bugs, live in any condition due to their great adaptability: their digestive system recover almost 90% of what they eat, thanks to repetitive digestion of the intakes; the drosses are expelled through a fissure on the back of the insect, and are compacted in structures that, with time, covers the top of the bug, providing a good camouflage. Desertic species have an harder back-structure, due to the harsh conditions of the territory (all nutrients are extrated from the food, nothing goes waste; therefore the resulting drosses are extremilty compacted and are shaped by the wind and sand). In moister environements the dross structure is laxer, and assume a more curved shape; also, can become a good growth ground for small plants and flowers, that casually ends on the back of the insect or that are pulled there by the bug itself to hide between the plants. If the ground is rich in metal, the back structure assume a metallic aspect and the single dross elements are thinner and elongated. Desert nomads learn to taste the drosses backs of the desert bugs, to get the characteristics of the territory they're travelling through (if there's green, or water, etc..). The insects can also be used as living jewels (if nourish with some metal) or flowery accessories, both alive or dead, depending on your preferences. (But you understand that's still shit, even if pratically sterile, do you?) |
Left picture: Kundray / Kundrayem, or Vurukundray, pest and bad bugs.
Very small pet (5 Y when drawn) Pet only (unless UT to make it bigger.) A. The transparent parts on this insect's paws are like little blades. They use it to cut leaves they harvest to craft their homes. Taken alone, they're unharmful. When they come somewhere in masses of thousands of them, they can reduce a whole tree to shreds. B. A bug that can grow up to be as large as a Yevat's hand, it's aggressive and loves to bite. Ew. C. "Untuk." The illegal offspring between a wasp and a moskitoe, you'll quickly learn to hate them: they're aggressive, sting, feed on blood, and are perfectly silent. |
Right picture: Kyndial / Kyndialem, unharmful insects.
Very small pet (5 Y when drawn) Pet only (unless UT to make it bigger.) A. "Yang." Its iridescence is used to mate. This bug is slow, calm, and pretty. It turns to a solid empty shell when it dies, so it can be used as decoration or in jewelery. B. "Lunahesfilej," "water runner." Very small, this insect has hydrophobic paws and body. It can't drown, and will naturally float on water like if it was walking on it. It lives on lakes, swamps and calm waters only. C. Beetles on Bothea are just like beetles on Earth: coming in every color, shape and size, and mostly unharmful. |
Fishes
Very small pet (5 Y when drawn) Pet only (unless UT to make it bigger.)
Valel fishes can be compared to Earth's piranhas, except for one thing: they eat everyting. Their incredible digestive system allows them to ingest any material as long as it's smaller than their mouth, or if they can take a bite inside. Yevatem use them to clean their public bathes on a regular basis, and it's heavily recommanded not to take a bath while they're here for obvious reasons. They're small and bad swimmers, and live in lakes and rivers in packs with a dominant, bigger fish. Most of time they won't attack freely Yevatem, unless there's nothing else to eat nearby. |
Picture above, from left to right:
A. "Kelugaar." (Pet) Big sea fishes that act like salmons: they climb along rivers once every cycle to reproduce, and they can be eaten by Yevatem!
B1. (Small pet) Small, unharmful, sea fishes.
B2. "Ualau." (Small pet) Small river and lakes fishes known to come in every color, often kept in ponds by Yevatem because they're playful, pretty, and easy to take care of!
C. "Mele." (Small pet) Lake and river fishes known to come only in blue and yellow colors, regardless of their sex. For an unknown reason, they'll be very present around Oyevat ruins, as if they were attracted to them.
D. "Tetap." (Pet) This iridescent fish can only be found in saltwaters. It has no side fins, and moves fowards by inhaling water and sprouting it through its large gills. It's territorial and nasty: if it can, it'll try and take a bite at Yevatem. And as it's as big as a Yevat's head, it can become dangerous! Thankfully, it's rather slow and rare.
E. "Yanyapi." (Pet) Sea fishes. The females are twice to thrice as big as males, and of a dull or pastel blue, while the males are smaller and of a vivid orange. They move in packs of females with a single male, which is protected by the females. They're edible, but Yevatem usually spare and release the males, as they're rarer.

Birds
Picture above, from left to right: common small birds.
Very small pet (5 Y when drawn) Pet only (unless UT to make it bigger.)
A. "Tykytyky." A forest and jungle bird, very common everywhere, smaller than a Yevat hand. They can be of any color.
B. "Darbya." Direct equivalent of our parrots! Their paws are made of a single finger. They're mostly found in the deserts, but have recently been imported in the underground, where the quickly adapted. They can be found as company on boats. They can be of any color.
C. "Tykybel." Cousin of the tykytyky, they're bigger, and duller. They mostly live in the mountains and around Varveleilemn's nests, where they eat the remains left by the dragons.
D. "Itykey." Smaller than the tykytyky, they're a cousin species which evolved to live in the undergrounds. They're frequent on shores and eat fish. They adapted to the life in darkness and have very short wings, allowing them to fly on low levels.
E. "Vermal." Known for their four legs, these common critters love to burrow and dig to find insects. They're as small as sparrows.

Picture above: domesticable birds.
Pet only (unless UT to make it bigger.)
A. "Pulk." As big as a chicken, this bird tastes like turkey. It's proud, however, and hard to keep in a cage.
B. "Jokuobo." Can be as tall as reaching a Yevat's shoulder! They're too heavy to fly, but can run quite fast. They're generally very calm creatures, and will be obedient and remain in cages. They have a strong beak, able to break almost everything, but will not naturally bite Yevatem. Their flesh taste like a spicy chicken and is really appreciated.
C. "Tentu." Roams around Yevat villages to steal the food. They can mimic any sound and any voice, and can be domesticated with a lot of patience, as they need to deeply trust someone to create a bond. They're known for their long beak, which can be even longer than what the picture shows.
D. "Gagap." An invasive and stupid bird which roams Yevat villages as well to try and eat everything. They're easy to scare. They're edible, but generally don't have enough flesh to call it a meal.

Picture above: wild and large birds. They're all big enough to be preyed upon by Varveleilem.
Pet only (unless UT to make it bigger.)
A. "Setsuatru." A really large bird of prey. Its head reaches a Yevat's torso, and its wingspan compete with Velilyevatem. They're strictly carnivorous, and resistant to the Ovskrud disease, making them good scavengers as well. In Yevat dreams, it means the end of an era for the profit of a new one. It can be found everywhere at the surface.
B & C. "Rajakaolej," "red-faced." Probably the bird with one of the largest wingspan, its head looks like it's a red mask. It's mostly blue to purple colored, but can also appear teal to grenish, or even have spots of vivid orange. It's known to be a very cunning bird, able to unlock complex locks, solve problems, and recognize itself into reflections. There is a slight difference depending on where its lives: moutain ones look more fluffier where desert and jungle ones look skinnier. It's mostly nocturnal but can commonly be spotted during the day. Yevatem meeting it will say that it was playful, and that something in their eyes made them think that it also understood them.
D. "Stryks." Omen of power or bad luck, depending on the region. This bird is tall and long, but its peculiarities mostly come from the fact that it has four eyes, and two beaks in one. It can be spotted spending long hours grooming its feathers with its complex beak. It will migrate so it can be found anywhere at the surface.

Larger animals (WIP)
Most of them aren't in the pets nor the mount tab, as they can't easily be domesticated. They however can be considered as very exotic pets or mounts if you want, and you're free to make them. They will generate 5 Yevatokens when drawn, just like pets and mounts. They're known to be too wild or dangerous to accept a saddle or a passenger, and even tamed, they might show an aggressive behavior - they will remain wild all their life. Having them as pets will be as rare as someone owning a tiger, for example.

Hoofed animals
Dzabba Pet only (unless UT to make it bigger.) The dzabba is a small critter, about the size of a dog. It's mostly present in the jungles and forests, where its skin and scales will mimic the texture of leaves and moss to avoid bigger predators. It'll hide in bushes when sniffing the presence of bigger than itself! It mostly feeds on eggs, and will seek other animal's nests to eat the warm eggs. Its mouth can crack open most eggs, even those with the hardest shells, and would even break a stone, given the circumstances! But in spite of its sheer strength, especially for its size, it would not attack Yevatem. Even if attacked, even by things smaller than itself, it'll tend to flee as fast as it can until it can hide in bushes. Male and females reproduce only once per cycle, and the mother lays 4-5 puppies; but the babies being unable to feed by themselves for a moment, and the parents abandoning them shortly, only one of the puppies often make it to the adult life. They're quite rare to see for this reason. |
Lokuor
Mount (can be a pet if smaller/infant) Lokuorem could be compared as big and fast horses, or camels. it has a rigid mane and tail fluff filled with hardened sand, but the rest of its fur tends to be short. It mostly is a dweller of the deserts, the only place where it can run without taking a break. It doesn't fear the heat, and during the day time, is almost in constant movement. A Yevat trying to tame it would have trouble to make it stop even for a moment. It lies down when sleeping, however. It's preyed upon a lot by Varveleilem, even if it always remains in packs to survive. It mostly eats dry grass and succulents, which takes him a lot of time to digest, so it doesn't need to eat a lot. It knows and remembers the places where Bothea breathes humidity at morning, and goes to breathe in the moist air there to hydrate. It will lay one baby per pregnancy, but can reproduce several times a cycle. It'll naturally flee Yevatem. |
Beyben Mount (can be a pet if smaller/infant) The beyben is a large animal living in the desert. It feeds on sand and rocks, just like karajasem, and has a very slow metabolism. It can't run really fast, but counts on its natural body camouflage and slow motions not to be spotted on by Varveleilem. It's not always effective. It travels in pack in the day like in the night, but always take long breaks when it feels safe somewhere. It lays one baby per cycle, which the pack will protect together by placing it in the middle of the pack; indeed, rabiem and siunem love to try and eat the babies, which flesh tastes good. It would naturally flee Yevatem. |
Druruk
Mount (can be a pet if smaller/infant) The druruk probably got its name from the word "vuruk," meaning "bad." Indeed, this huge creature, as high as a tall Yevat at the withers, is extremely territorial and aggressive. Thankfully, it solely roams the mountains and the highest peaks, as its metabolism is made for low-oxygen places. It feeds on grass and small plants, but its head is solid as a rock, and it'll violently headbump anything that seems to be challenging its terrority - even if it's as small as a rodent. It loudly growls and snorts all the time, which helps locating it before it sees you. They reproduce once a female meets a male, which remains rare - but it can live a hundred of cycles. Somehow, it also seems to be able to reproduce with bokem, and to have (sterile) offspring with them. For an unknown reason, it even seems to prefer to mate with a boka rather than a member of its own species - maybe because it challenges less its territory. Bokem owners must always be careful when crossing the mountains for this reason. It'll charge Yevatem on sigh. |
Astriavdruruk, or astruruk in short
Mount (can be a pet if smaller/infant) The astriavdruruk is the underground subspecies of the druruk. It solely lives underground and never reaches the surface, for it's a talented burrower. It's a little smaller than its mountain cousin, but still pretty impressive, and just as aggressive and territorial. This one add berries and fruits to its diet, and drinks water in underground lakes, which causes it to sometimes contracts the Ovscrud disease. It can survive the disease for several months, contaminating everything in its path. It's scared of loud noises, so it'll tend to avoid Yevat town and cities, but no one is truly protected from the fact that it can pop of nowhere from the ground it the town or Yevat home was on its random path. Even scared, it will try to attack and violently headbump. |
Ursidae
Duesmuka Mount (can be a pet if smaller/infant) The duesmuka, or the "napping animal," spends most of its life sleeping in the forests. Once they're born from a litter of a dozen of babies, they will patiently wait for seeds to sprouts on their welcoming back. Then, they will start a journey in which they will reproduce once - it they're lucky enough to find a mate - and once they will find a landscape they like, they will lay here until their seed becomes a tree too heavy for them to move. The roots will soon encirle them too much to turn back. For a big part of their life, they will live in harmony with their tree, which will share the resources it needs with it. Then, it'll die, and its flesh will feed the tree in return. It's not rare to discover that some trees are in fact grown on top of a duesmuka's skeleton. It's very useful to the environment, and help tree species to migrate. It spends its whole life living on it's tree's photosynthesis, so it's probably the greenest creature on Bothea. |
Kumar Mount (can be a pet if smaller/infant) The kumar is a passive bear-like creature, which lives in harmony with the nature surrounding it. Its "butt" is on a lower level than its shoulders. It'll grow grass, moss, and sometimes leaves on its back to blend in the environment - although it has no predator to hide from. It's present in the forests and jungles, in the savannah, and also in the high levels of the undergrounds. Its fur color will tend to adapt to its environment. It feeds on smaller animals, fishes, but also berries and algaes. It's a lazy animal that can prove itself very dangerous for a Yevat, but only if it's attacked first. upon meeting a Yevat, it'll raise itself on its two hind legs and growl, It'll observe for a while if the Yevat is aggressive or not, and will eventually attack or flee. It's scared by noise. It'll have 1 to 2 cubs, which it will take care of for a very long time; sometimes even after the cub reached adulthood, for it's a very affectionate species with its own kind. |
Lyamdi
Pet only (unless UT to make it bigger.) The lyamdi is a small and fearful creature. It's dog-sized and mostly live in the high levels of underground, and sometimes peeks at the surface. It'll grow a greenish fur (forests) or orange fur (deserts) around its neck and on the tail in a attempt to blend, which isn't always effective. But it's an excellent swimmer with its large forearms, and it's often spotted near lakes. It mostly eat fishes. It can reproduces several times a cycle and can lay up to twenty cubs at once. The mother will protect her cubs in burrows or small grottos until they leave their home by themselves after two bothean months (around 200 days.) Not all of them will made it to adulthood. It'll flee Yevatem on sight. |
