What is a unique trait?
A unique trait is a trait which does not appear in the anatomy reference sheets neither on the traits reference sheets. Every Bothean species (YVVO but also pets and mounts, and other animals) can have a unique trait and it can be different for all of them. (The flora is unlimited however, go wild with it for free as long as it remain plants or fungis ahah)
In general, a unique trait is used to change the basic anatomy of an YVVO or a Bothean. There is no rarity system and a unique trait can correspond to anything your creature could not initially have. For example, a unique trait can add an extra pair of arm, hypnotic eyes, or an abnormal bioluminescence, etc.
Basically, unique traits are a visible detail on the design, changing the anatomy. And as any design, it needs to be approved by Yoka to avoid breaking the lore. To use a unique trait on a design, you need to own a unique trait. To know if you own a unique trait, check the corresponding masterlist, items tab.
There's no limited list of unique traits. It can be what you want, as long as it's approved.
Here is a list of the most used unique traits as examples. These are examples only and don't have to be followed, if you own a unique trait, you are free to invent a new one!
- Large scales
- A second pair of arm
- A third eye
- Two tails, or no tail
- Extra bioluminescence
- Metallic markings or bones
- Plant growth
- A devil tail tip
- A pair of ears with 3 tips instead of 2
- Gills
- Inner magma
- Horns on body
- More examples here
- Etc.
It's possible for a unique trait to appear only when the Yevat or Velilyevat use its Rokyevat (defensive) form. For example, a Yevat can look totally normal, but can be on fire when feeling threatened (if a unique trait is added for such a change.)

What is a unique power?
A unique power is a power which is not listed in the basic powers and abilities list.
In general, a unique power is used to give an YVVO an extra ability. There is no rarity system and a unique power can correspond to anything your creature could not have or do initially. For example, a unique power can add a flawless memory, healing powers, to see the invisible, etc.
Basically, unique powers are not visible on the design, allowing an YVVO to hide the existence of it if desired. Like unique traits, powers need to be approved by Yoka to avoid breaking the lore. To give a unique power to a design, you need to own a unique power. To know if you own a unique power, check the masterlist.

- To control animal's minds
- To influence or to appear in people's dreams
- To heal people with energy
- Levitation
- To control an element such a fire, earth, water... or even the weather
- To never forget information, a face, etc
- To change water in wine or to walk on water
- To breathe underwater
- To have a skin that can't be cut or hurt, or an instant regeneration
- To sense water sources deep in the earth, or to understand the magic of tarot cards
- Etc.
It's possible for a unique power to be effective only when the Yevat or Velilyevat use its Rokyevat (defensive) form. For example, a Yevat can have no power, but can suddenly be able to levitate when feeling threatened (if a unique power is added for such an ability.)
Sometimes, unique powers can be included in unique traits. For example, the unique trait "gills" will automatically give your YVVO the unique power of breathing undewater, or the unique trait "inner magma" will automatically induces that your YVVO is resistant to fire.

What is a mutation?
A mutation is either:
- A large pack of unique traits following a theme
Ex. Deep sea mutation: The Yevat has gills, extra bioluminescence, body transparence, webbed fingers, etc.
Ex: Avian mutation: The Velilyevat has many wings, extra feather fluff, bird feet, a beak, etc.
Ex: Undead mutation: the Yevat is a living-dead, rotten, can move skeletal parts, etc.
- An hybridization between a Yevat and another species
Ex: the top of a Yevat, but the legs are replaced by a mermaid tail.
Ex: a centaur Yevat
Ex: a mix between a Yevat and a Varveleil
Ex: hybrid between a Yevat and another CS
Ex: a Yevat able to shapeshift into another creature
- Any shapeshifting ability
Yevat and Velilyevat to Rokyevat excluded
Oyevat to Yevat or Velilyevat excluded
Mutations can only be found through adoptables and customs - or can very rarely be obtained while revealing a genetic pill!

Why your unique trait or power might be declined
Here's a non-exhaustive list of what's considered "lore breaking":
- If your unique trait or power is completely overpowered, turning your YVVO into a living god (examples: planetary control of space and time, mass crowd control, ability to delete people or even planets by snapping fingers, etc.)
- If your unique trait or power can generate an unlimited amount of other unique traits or powers to oneself and/or to other character designs (Examples: the ability to grow wings to anybody, ability to re-shape people and change their appearance at will, etc.)
- If the unique power is in fact a unique trait, or if the unique trait is in fact a mutation (Example: the power to grow plants on your body is in fact a unique trait, since it does change the appearance, or the trait of shapeshifting is in fact a mutation.)
- If your unique trait or power breaks the general universe's aesthetic or rules (tend to realism), breaks logic, induces that the YVVO or some parts of them can't be alive but still moves, includes pure human-like creations, or can't be explained (Examples: object-head, living glass bodyparts filled with stuff like liquids or sparkles, glitch effects, a body part separatared from the body and magically still alive etc. - it's not concerning prosthesis which are ok and free to make.)

How to get unique traits and powers?
There are a several ways to get unique traits or powers:
- You can buy them directly with money (paypal) at MYO sales (join discord) - You can buy them in the Reward shop with Yevatokens (on Deviantart or discord) - You can win them as rewards during certain monthly prompt events (join the Discord to be warned of new events!) - You can win them through raffles or other events. |
I have been told that I can "split" my unique trait?
Yes, you can:
1 unique trait = 2 unique powers
If you have one unique trait but you don't know what to do with (or if you don't want to change your pre-existing design), you can turn it into two unique powers.
If you have two unique powers but you prefer having a unique trait, you can use two unique powers to turn them into one unique trait.
It does not works with unique traits received through Genetic pills, which are locked.

Basic rules
- Unique traits or Unique powers are not free. You need to possess one (shown in the masterlist) to use it on a design.
- Bought unique traits or powers can be resold, but those you got for free can only be traded or gifted. The status of a trait or power is written in the masterlist. - A unique trait generated from a Genetic pill cannot be changed/swapped (it's the game!) - You cannot use a unique trait to turn a Yevat into a Velilyevat (by adding wings.) This is prohibited. If you want a Velilyevat, you'll have to buy a Velilyevat design or MYO. - Unique traits can't be used to remove what makes a Yevat a Yevat, or an YVVO an YVVO; for example you can't use multiple UTs to make a Yevat who has no double tips at ears + no double thumbs on hands and paws + no dot eyebrows + no cat nose, so the character you make can't be identified as a Yevat anymore. - What is considered a unique trait, a unique power, or a mutation, is decided according to Yoka's will only and can't be negociated. - If a unique trait or power is "too much" (breaking the universe or lore) and Yoka says that you can't use it, then you can't use it and will have to change it. |
Specific rules about fur, feathers and scales
Fur limitations:
- Fur is unlimited on the species Yevat, Velilyevat, and Oyevat. The only limitation is that the species traits must remain visible for approval (ears, dot eyebrows, feline nose, hands and paws); if these are covered by the fur, then a separate artwork showing them will have to be draw for the design approval.
(Fur used to be limited to 1/4 for the body max. This rule has changed and now fur is unlimited.)
- For Varveleilem being scaled dragons, any spot of fur anywhere is immediately a UT.
Feathers limitations:
- Feathers, and feather fluff, are considered just like fur, and share the same rules as stated above
- Even a Yevat (not winged) can have feathers (but no wings.)
- Feathers are not limited in appearance, and can have fancy shapes for free, as long as it still look like feathers.

- Very thin scales / or a thin, small scales texture can cover a Yevat / Velilyevat for free. It will be considered as a " natural marking."
- Small to medium scales can cover the face and limbs (not the tail) for free, as long as it remains small to medium scales.
- Large scales, dragon-like scales, plate/armor like scales, or protruding scales, will require a UT.

About tattoos and bodypainting
Q: "Can I have bioluminescent tattoos or bodypaint without unique traits?"
Since a recent update, it is not allowed anymore. Glowing tattoos requires the unique trait "glowing tattoos" to be applied, as any other bioluminescent marking.
Regular tattoos remain free. Glowing bodypainting remain free as long as it's clearly a bodypaint (paint texture.)
Q: "No it's not a weird marking, it's a tattoo/bodypaint!"
Ok, but it must obvious that's its a tattoo or bodypaint. It must have the texture of either one or the other. If the tattoo or bodypaint looks like the other markings, it will be considered as sneaking a unique trait (unnatural marking) and not accepted. Also, same as for above:
- it must be written that these are tattoos/bodypaint somewhere
- in your reference there must be a version with, and one without bodypaint
- in any case it must be obvious that it's tattoos or bodypaint and not a natural marking
