Why no censorship will be applied to my works,
and why no content will be modified or deleted to people's requests
Before everything: while some content I produce may be sorted as "NSFW," I will never promote nor defend anything illegal or hateful. I will also keep this website exempt from any NSFW picture, and will apply proper content warnings before texts that require it. Now that is stated, I can develop.
The content I produce might mention (and already has) awful stuff. I love to write and draw about gore and sexual content, about dramas and human psychology, and I love to explore real life history to get inspired for my events - which you'll guess are rarely pretty.
I simply think that dramas and awful things of life are what make us who we are as persons, and I can't imagine developing a character's backstory, or a whole universe for that matter, without mentionning things that went wrong and potentially led to traumas for the concerned characters or societies. We don't live in a world of Care Bears, and working on such a softened universe simply doesn't interest me.
I have been a first-aider (in my free time) and a caretaker for people with dementias and handicaps, before my health prevented me to continue. I'm also an adult, who experienced every kind of things. I have my own traumas and experiences.
I can simply not imagine a world without all the aspects of my life. Call it how you want, tell me I'm probably coping my life events with the fictions I write, and you'll probably be right. I will never incitate to violence, but I love to explore complex topics because, well, they are part of life.
I am well aware that such content can provoke heavy feelings for some of you. I also know that some of you are young, and/or very sensitive in general. If that's your case, I simply recommand you not to join my universe nor to follow my works, because as I said, I love to explore complex and difficult topics.
But let me be clear about something: I have no problem against sentitive people. I have a problem against those who willingly follow me, read through such content in spite of the content warnings, and then tell me I'm a monster because my words or artworks awoke a trauma of theirs and then ask me to delete my content. It would be like watching a horror movie, being scared, and then trying to sue the movie producers because the movie frightened them. It's ridiculous.
Yet I know many people do that in spite of any reason or common sense. How many actors who played despicable characters suffered after of online harrassment, because some people couldn't understand the difference between the actor and the character?
Well, just like an actor isn't his character, I am not my characters or creations either. Some of my characters will say or do things that I do not condone, simply for the sake of plot or character development. If you're unable to understand this, then I don't even want to speak with you, and I must ask you to avoid everything I create.
I am open to critisism - this is your freedom of speech, and I respect it.
But you have to accept that I won't delete or change something if I don't want to - this is my freedom of speech and I ask you to respect it.
When you ask me to delete something I created because it makes you uncomfortable, you are denying my freedom of speech. (Again, I do not include anything illegal in the lot. If I ever do or promote anything illegal seriously, please do call the police.) And you can't ask for your own freedom of speech to be respected as if it was a holy obligation while denying other's. Respect mine, I'll respect yours.
The only exceptions that I accept are words or sentences that have meanings I ignore. For example, when I started speaking in English, I said to all that "I give first aids to people." I thought that I was speaking about the fact that I was a first aider and I provided first-aid. (Yes, it was awkward.) English isn't my first language, and I'm not always up to date with a special meaning linked to words (that are mostly created in the USA, to which I don't always follow the actuality.) I may misuse words. For example, I only recently learned that "grooming" meant an illegal activity, and wasn't the simple act of a cat cleaning itself. If I do such mistake, please explain it to me without drama.
To me, art, creations, and even humour are allowed to include nsfw and problematic content. These have been used in history as ways to denounce things, and to reveal an era's beliefs and ambience. You can learn a lot about the victorian era by reading the Picture of Dorian Gray, for example, even if it's a fiction. That's also the reason why so many books have been burnt during WW2, or why other book burnings and art theft have been organized all along our Human History (it basically fights against propaganda and lack of culture.) I believe that art and humor embody our freedom of speech, and when it's removed from us, it means that we no longer live in a democracy. I personaly live inside of a democracy so I'll use my freedom of speech; and if it bothers you in any way, please avoid any further contact with me or my creations.
Quoting here the artist Incase (NSFW gallery):
"I may not be an american, but I do believe in freedom of expression. When somebody says "Hey! I don't like how you did X", that doesn't limit my expression. It just adds theirs to the pile. More expression.
I am a big boy and I can take people not liking some aspect of my work.
[But] criticism can go too far and have a chilling effect on creators. It is something that we should be mindful of [...]"
"I believe that in the pursuit of art, showing something ugly or uncomfortable is worth it sometimes."
